Healthy flatbread from the state of Maharashtra in India, made using jowar flour, whole wheat flour, and gram flour; spiced and flavored with fresh ingredients such as garlic, green chilies, coriander leaves, etc. is Thalipeeth. It is a healthy recipe as it uses multigrain flour.

When preparing the dough, other ingredients such as onion, fresh coriander, other vegetables and spices may be added. Thalipeeth is usually served with butter (preferably made from water buffalo milk, ghee or yogurt. The dish is popular in Maharashtra and north Karnataka, and it is also made with regional variations in Goa

Thalipeeth is a traditional Maharashtrian flatbread named for the way the dough is pressed into shape, using the palm of the hand.

Muslin fabric is used to roll this bread. And thereafter it is cooked in very little oil, making it such an appropriate diet recipe too, apart from being a healthy breakfast recipe. The reason that thalipeeth is flattened this way is because the dough does not contain gluten, and cannot therefore, be rolled or stretched into shape. In some regions, thalipeeth is also known as dhapata, for the same reason — dhapata means to pat (into shape).
